Custom Granite Services in Lexington, SC

Lexington filled up with new houses between 2000 and 2015, and nearly all of them came with builder granite. Twenty years on, the stone still looks good but the sink and faucet layout feels dated. Carolina Custom Granite cuts and modifies that granite on site, from downtown Lexington out to the Lake Murray shoreline.

Custom Granite Services Across Lexington and the Lake Murray Side

Carolina Custom Granite has provided custom granite services throughout Lexington County for many years. Because homes here are generally newer than those in Columbia, granite installation projects often involve updating existing stone rather than replacing it. In Governors Grant and Whitehall, we perform precise granite cutting to enlarge builder cutouts for larger workstation sinks. Around Coldstream and Barr Lake, we modify existing countertops to accommodate deeper apron front sinks with clean, accurate cuts.

Along the Corley Mill and Old Cherokee corridors, we drill new faucet and water filter holes without replacing the countertop. Out toward White Knoll, Red Bank, and Oak Grove, hard water and well systems often lead homeowners to update fixtures, requiring professional granite cutting. On the Lake Murray side, including Chapin and Ballentine, we modify grill island countertops and outdoor bar surfaces for new appliance installations.

How Does Lexington's Newer Housing Change A Granite Cut?

Most Lexington kitchens were built to a tight budget by production builders. The granite is genuine, but it is often thinner stock with a simple eased or bullnose edge. Matching that edge after a cut takes hand polishing, not a factory profile. New homes also settle in their first several years, so a cabinet run can be slightly off even in a 2012 build. Then there is the water. Large parts of unincorporated Lexington County still run on private wells, and mineral heavy water stains and etches around sink rims and faucet bases. Owners replace those fixtures and suddenly the old holes no longer line up. Cutting on site solves it without touching the rest of the kitchen.

Services We Are Offering in Lexington

In House Countertop Cutting

We cut your granite in place, inside the house. Lexington's most requested jobs are apron front sink conversions, workstation sink fittings, wider cooktop openings and extra holes for filtered water taps. The existing edge is hand finished so the new cut blends with the builder profile.

On Site Undermount Sink Repair

Builder installed sinks were often set with the minimum number of clips. Add a heavy disposal and fifteen years of use, and the bowl starts to sag. We rebracket the sink, reseal the rim and set it back level. No stone is removed and nothing gets replaced.

Which Lexington Numbers Point To Rising Granite Cutting Demand?

Lexington County is one of the fastest growing counties in South Carolina, with a 2020 Census count near 294,000 residents and double digit growth over the previous decade. The town of Lexington itself is far smaller, roughly 24,000 people, but it anchors a much larger commuter area feeding Columbia. That growth is the whole story for this service.
A very large share of local homes went up between 1998 and 2015, which means the original builder granite is now 10 to 25 years old and paired with fixtures that have changed size. Lake Murray shapes the rest of the demand.
The reservoir was completed in 1930, covers around 50,000 acres and has roughly 650 miles of shoreline, and its lake homes carry outdoor kitchens and bar tops that need cutting for new grills and sinks.

Which Granite Cuts Do Lexington Homeowners Ask For Most?

Five requests make up most of our Lexington calendar. Each one needs a different amount of bracing and finishing. Time on site assumes normal access and a sound cabinet run.
Cut Request What It Involves Typical Time On Site Where We See It Most
Apron Front Sink Conversion Front rail removed, cabinet support added, edges polished. Most of a day Governors Grant, Whitehall
Workstation Sink Upgrade Opening widened and squared to the ledge specification. Half day Coldstream, Barr Lake
Cooktop or Downdraft Opening Old opening enlarged to match the new appliance template. Half day Corley Mill, Old Cherokee
Faucet & Filter Holes New holes core drilled and chamfered for a clean finish. One to two hours White Knoll, Red Bank, Oak Grove
Outdoor Grill Island Cut Drop-in cutout with a weather-ready polished edge finish. Half to full day Lake Murray, Chapin, Ballentine
Overhang or Corner Reshape Stone trimmed back and profile hand matched to the existing edge. Half day Downtown Lexington, Old Mill Area

Answers to Your Granite Cutting Questions

Will cutting my builder installed granite void the home warranty?
A structural home warranty covers framing and systems, not countertop modifications, and most builder warranties on finishes run out after the first year anyway. Read your specific documents if the home is under two years old. Ask the builder in writing before we cut if any doubt remains.
Can you match the eased edge on a 2000s Lexington subdivision countertop?
Yes, in most cases. Builder tops usually use a simple eased or bullnose profile, and both can be reproduced by hand on site. We polish the new edge in stages so the sheen matches the original run rather than looking freshly ground.
Will well water staining around the old sink show once the cutout changes?
Sometimes, and it is better to know before we start. Iron and mineral deposits can leave a shadow on the stone where the old rim sat. We can hone and reseal that area during the same visit so the surface reads evenly.
Can granite be cut for an outdoor kitchen at a Lake Murray home?
Yes. We cut grill and bar tops in place on the patio or dock side structure. Keep in mind that shoreline structures themselves fall under Dominion Energy’s lake management rules, so confirm any construction permits separately from the stone work.
What happens if the new opening lands close to an existing seam?
We measure the seam location before quoting, because cutting too near one can open it. Usually the opening can shift an inch or two, or the seam gets re-epoxied and supported as part of the job. If neither works, we say so instead of risking the top.

Where Else Do We Work Around Lexington County?

Lexington is our home base on the west side of the river, and the surrounding towns are on the same weekly route. We cover Irmo, Chapin, Ballentine, Cayce, West Columbia, Springdale and Oak Grove. Red Bank, Gilbert, Pelion, Swansea, Gaston and Batesburg Leesville are all included. We also cross the river into Columbia, Forest Acres and Blythewood. Not sure if your road is in range?
